"ALTA MURGIA - A STRANGE LAND": THE FIRST DOCUMENTARY OF THE PARK AT THE BARI SHOWVILLE - BOOK ONLINE
PDF
Tuesday, 26 March 2013 11:37

It is entitled "Alta Murgia - A Strange Land", the first documentary entirely dedicated to the Alta Murgia National Park produced by White Fox Communications for the Park Authority and directed by Eugenio Manghi, director, photographer and naturalist journalist with the valuable collaboration of Annalisa Losacco, photographer and naturalist operator of White Fox, and Giuseppe Carlucci, a great connoisseur of the Murgia region.
The film presents the Park area with unpublished images, unique and fascinating, and will be presented as an absolute preview on 4 April in the rooms of the Multicinema Showville of Bari, in the presence of the director, the President of the Park Authority Cesare Veronico and the Director of the Authority Fabio Modesti.
In this documentary, which took just over twelve months to make, Alta Murgia is revealed in all its splendour with footage that testifies to the presence of protected species such as the wolf, autochthonous species such as the Ophyris Murgiana orchid and landscapes that represent and describe the relationship between man and the environment.
The President Veronico commented enthusiastically on the work of Eugene Manghi: "This is not just a simple postcard of a poignantly beautiful region: the job of the director, that became Murgian by adoption, was driven by a genuine love both for the wild as well as the rural landscape and represents an example for us all, to be committed to the effort to protect and enhance this extraordinary heritage, also as a tourist resource".
The Authority has chosen to share this presentation with all the citizens that have demonstrated, in the nine years since its establishment, their attention and love for the Park. Book online at the following address: http://www.parcoaltamurgia.gov.it. Participation is free, the availability of seats is limited.
After the première in Bari, the film will be shown in cinemas of municipalities within the Park and will then be presented at a number of international film festivals where it has already been requested. In the course of the evening there will be two screenings, at 19.00 and at 20.30, as well as a related debate.

IN MAY THE FIRST "FESTIVAL OF RURALITY AND AGRICULTURE"
PDF
Friday, 08 March 2013 18:38

The Alta Murgia National Park Authority established, with presidential resolution no. 02/2013 of 6 March last year and published on the official website of the Authority www.parcoaltamurgia.gov.it on the Council Notice Board section, organisation of the first edition of the Festival of Rurality and Agriculture to be held in the month of May 2013 in the Municipalities of the protected area. The idea of the Festival was developed by the Authority that will protect its name and symbol with filing of the specific European Trademark according to E.U. Regulations.
Legambiente Onlus was identified as a partner for organisation of the event. The Festival aims to represent, starting from its first edition, a date of national importance to develop an exchange of ideas and proposals between the companies of the agro-livestock sector and the world of research, of trade associations and politics promoting a model of rurality that is able to identify meeting points between tradition and innovation. The aim of the event is to promote the figure of a new agri-food entrepreneur that with the Park will have their first natural partner.
The program of the event - currently being defined - will include public meetings and events intended for professionals but also initiatives targeting the involvement of the citizens in the concept of rurality through activities of tasting, cultural initiatives as well as workshops for the students of primary and secondary schools.

THE ALTA MURGIA NATIONAL PARK LAUNCHES THE AGROECOSYSTEMS PROJECT
PDF
Wednesday, 13 February 2013 10:33

The Agroecosystems project, promoted by the Park Authority, and led by the research group Agristudio S. r.l. coordinated by Dr. Fabio Papini, was presented in the former Convent of the Dominicans of Ruvo in Puglia in the presence of about 200 representatives of companies and associations of the Alta Murgia National Park. The project, which aims to create an increasingly collaborative relationship between the Authority and the farms that represent a prominent part of its territory, is an integral part of the Proposal of the Park Plan, in the process of being adopted by the Region of Puglia, and will last for one year.
The President of the Alta Murgia National Park, Cesare Veronico presented the general aims of the initiative: "Agroecosystems is heading in the direction of a relationship of mutual collaboration. If companies represent the sentinels of the Park, our commitment to the development of the territory sees the same companies as the first beneficiaries of the results we are achieving, first of which is the recent nomination by the Ministry of the Environment for the European Charter for sustainable tourism". The specific objectives of the project were presented by the director of the Authority, Fabio Modesti: "Agroecosystems is a useful tool to develop a model of eco-sustainable company management while preserving the natural resources present in the region and providing businesses with tools and strategies to increase their capabilities and to also offer benefits to users".
