For 3 years the Park Corporation has undertaken , in collaboration with the Department of Biology- University of the Studies of Bari, a monitoring project of the boar ( clickable and overdue to the project) which forecasts the counting with the help of State Forestry and volunteers.
The objective of the project is to identify a optimal density of population over the time, both in relation to the ecological needs of the same protected area, and in relation with the human activities in the context of strong anthropic of the territory.
The results of the previous years highlighted difficulties around the management of the species because of previous inadequate and lacking policies under the organizational and technical profile, that is only responding to sectorial pressures. The continuation of these studies on such long periods of time gave even more closer results to the real situation and demonstrates the importance of scientific research in the mammals management and their ecological interations with the economic activities of man.
Park Corporation , in order to undertake the appropriate directed initiatives towards boars in the territory, until this moment has had to accomplish this specific and necessary technical iter, under the rules and procedures of law in force, which will allow to the same Corporation, to undertake the appropriate direct management actions of the boar in the territory, according to a apposite Project of three year management of the population of the species.
